Report: Bristol City U21 4-0 AFC Bournemouth U21

15 October 2025

Bristol City’s Under-21s ran rampant as they earned their first victory since August in great style by beating Bournemouth’s U21 side 4-0 at Ashton Gate.

A great display from the home side would see Olly Thomas, Luke Skinner, Zack Ali and Devonte Ferguson secure victory for Dennis Baraznowski’s side.

Skinner had a great effort early on, rifling a shot from outside the box but Crampton was equal to it, acrobatically tipping the ball over the bar.

The Bournemouth keeper made another great stop to prevent Thomas from putting The Young Robins 1-0 up, stopping his effort from inside the six-yard box.

Kendra Mottoh came close for the visitors with his chipped effort dipping just before the goal and bouncing over for a goal kick.

Ruebin Sheppard whipped in a dangerous free kick 25 minutes in and his ball fizzed across the box, however no one was there to meet it.

Thomas opened the scoring for The Young Robins, displaying a great show of strength to bully the Bournemouth defender and shield the ball before smashing the ball home.

Skinner scored the second with an extraordinary effort. Raphael Araoye stepped out with the ball from defence and played it to Skinner on the right-hand side, who cut in onto his left foot and curled the ball into the top left corner.

City had the ball in the net just three minutes into the second half after some chaos in the box following a corner, but the goal was deemed offside.

Apart from that the second half had a very slow start, with no notable action until Victor Akimbo had a long range effort saved relatively comfortably in the 70th minute.

Billy Phillips went on a great run and drove to the byline, earning City a free kick just outside the penalty area in a great position, however the free kick did not live up to his run.

Ali made it three after Phillips had another great run and found Ali who was in acres of space and one vs one with the keeper, who then calmly placed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Substitute Ferguson sealed the deal for The Young Robins in injury time. He found himself on the end of a looped over the top through ball which was helped on by the wind, and audaciously lobbed the Bournemouth goalkeeper from outside the box, making it 4-0.

City are away to Derby County U21s for their next match on Tuesday 21st October, and will be hoping to build upon this victory.

Starting XI: Lewis Thomas, Luke Skinner, Tomos Gibbs, Callum Hewlett, Raphael Araoye, Harry Hogg, Zack Ali, Louie Derrick (C), Olly Thomas, Ruebin Sheppard, Billy Phillips
