Cheltenham’s biggest annual event is right around the corner. The iconic horse racing competition with a price stake just below the Grand National is set to commence on the 14th of March with spectators arriving from all over.
But what can we expect?
Here’s some stats:
- Last year we saw record numbers of visitors to the 2022 Cheltenham Festival and an average 65,000 people attending on each of the four days
- Tickets were sold out over all 4 days
- 134,600 people travelled through Cheltenham Spa during the week
- 80,00 people used the shuttle bus service between the Racecourse and town centre
All things food and drink
On average throughout the festival
- 9 tons of potatoes are consumed
- 5 tons of smoked and fresh salmon are eaten
- 350 chefs cater each day of the event
- 3,800 caterers operate the festival
- 24 marquees are built for the event which includes the longest triple-deck structure in Europe featuring over 2.5 miles of internal walls

Under the Prom
An urban themed club built under the iconic Cheltenham promenade. Unlike the other clubs mentioned before, Under the Prom is only open on the weekends but makes up for that with its longer opening hours so partygoers can dance until 7am if they want to!
