Brighton host Crystal Palace at the AMEX stadium in the Premier League on Friday. The visitors currently sit in 12th place in the league, four points behind tonights opponents.
Palace boss Patrick Vieira has not ruled out the possibility of new arrivals during the January transfer window.
“This period every manager will evaluate their team and look where they need to improve.”
“It’s good for a manager to have more experience and maybe we need those characteristics.”
Palace will want to rectify their previous Premier League result as they were beaten 3-2 by West Ham United. Two late goals from Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise were not enough as the Hammers held out for all three points.
Brighton head into this game in fine form, taking seven points from a possible nine in their last three games. The Seagulls previous encounter with Palace was an enthralling contest, with Neal Maupay scoring a 95th minute equaliser.
Manager Graham Potter has been impressed with Vieira’s start to life in south London – “Patrick has made some good progression and has built on the foundations made by Roy Hodgson.”
“The team are more attacking and they defend in a different way. I am impressed by what they have done under him.”
Last time out in the league, Brighton overcame Everton in a thrilling 3-2 encounter. A brace from Alexis Mac Allister and a goal from Dan Burn secured the points as they moved two points clear of Leicester City.
Potter gave an update on the injuries ahead of the game – “Lewis Dunk won’t be involved in the game against Palace, it’s come too soon for him.”
Captain Lewis Dunk will miss the game, as well as Yves Bissouma who is away with Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Enock Mwepu will also be out for a couple of weeks due to an injury he sustained in Brighton’s FA Cup fixture with West Brom.
Due to the absentees in midfield for the Seagull’s, Potter has recalled Moises Caicedo back off loan six months early to help with the lack of depth in the squad.
“Moises Caicedo has played games for Beerschot and for his country and that of course helps him.”
“It’s about him coming into the group now, he adds to us with Enock out for a few weeks and quite a packed couple of months coming up. We’re excited about him.”

Brighton will be looking to move into eighth place with a win, while Palace would move up to ninth if they were to take all three points.
