“We made too many mistakes” – Roberto De Zerbi as Brighton and Hove Albion crash out of the FA Cup

Following the 1-0 defeat in Wolverhampton last night, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi reflected on his team exiting the FA cup.

“My opinion is, we played well. We made too many mistakes, especially in the first half to score or the last pass, but we we created a lot of chances.

“We played well to score and I’m very happy with the performance, very happy for the the style we played, the attitude we showed, the personality.”

Mario Lemina’s early goal earned the Molineux outfit a home FA Cup quarter-final with Coventry City as Albion failed to make more of 72% possession.

“With nine injured or suspended players it is very difficult to compete against Wolves and at this level of competition.

“We had a lot of chances to score, we arrived in the goal area especially in the first half many times and we didn’t shoot or make the right decision.

“For sure, we could shoot more times, but we played well enough to score [at least] one goal.

“In football, who scores wins – we didn’t score and we lost the game.”

With a young side fielded, De Zerbi stayed proud of the team throughout the 90 minutes

“I am proud of the performance, especially with a lot of young players.”

Brighton still remain in the Europa League so they still are in for a chance to win silverwear this season. They travel to AS Roma next week (8th March)
