“We know we are going to be at full stretch for the rest of the season” – Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson reflects on Sunderland draw

Bristol City continue their good run of form after picking up a late point against Sunderland thanks to a rare penalty awarded to the Robins.

Jack Clarke gave Sunderland the lead when the 22-year-old unleashed a cracking strike into the top right corner in the 59th minute.

The Robins finally got their equaliser through Nahki Wells in the 93rd minute after converting from the spot for the first time in 469 days.

“We’ve been a side that has been difficult to beat as well as playing some good football too” Pearson said.

“Those are the types of progression I think they’re really important for us but of course it’s always tempered with the knowledge that things can change very quickly in the championship so at no point is there any time to relax or take things easy.”

Bristol City now turns their attention to Saturday where they take on fellow mid table side Hull City at Ashton Gate at 3PM.

Last time the two sides met, the Tigers came away with a 2-1 victory thanks to a late winner from Jean Michael Seri in the first game of the season. However, the last time they clashed at Ashton gate, The Robins came away with a massive 5-0 win.

Pearson shared his thoughts on the opponents for the weekend: “They will commit a lot of players forward, they’ve got a really good goalscorer in Oscar Estupiñan who they will try play into the areas for him.

“He is a player that we have to be wary of but yes I think they will be organised.”

Kal Naismith, Tommy Conway, Kane Wilson remains injured for the Robins. Pearson has also confirmed that Rob Atkinson will miss the rest of the season due to a ACL injury.
