Sergio Aguero tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of Cheltenham Town’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City

Sergio Aguero has confirmed via Twitter that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Argentinian international has missed Manchester City’s last four fixtures after coming into close contact with a positive case and has been self-isolating as a result.

The 32-year-old has now revealed he has contracted the virus himself and won’t be able to play for at least ten days as per the government guidelines.

This means the striker will miss the FA Cup trip to Cheltenham Town aswell as games against West Brom and Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Aguero’s recovery from knee surgery was looking promising but his isolation and positve test have now set him back further.

City’s record goalscorer has started just three matches this season and is one of several positive Covid-19 cases at The Etihad this year, with Kyle Walker, Ederson and Gabriel Jesus all forced to isolate in recent weeks.

The news will come as a blow to Cheltenham Town fans who would’ve been looking forward to seeing the striker potentially face their side in Saturday’s big FA Cup fourth round clash at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.
