The pair took back their title in the event after previously winning in 2023, placing fourth in the dressage, and cruising to fourth after the cross country.
The placings were tight, and stakes were high for the pair who were hot on the hooves of fellow Olympic teammate, Oliver Townend.
Townend who secured the title back in 2009 lead the event and was close to clenching a win, but after knocking a rail in the show jumping, the duo slipped to second in the final moments.
Townend and Cooley Rosalent followed in a close second with Austin O’Connor rounding off the top three of the event.
The emotions were high after her victory, with Canter dedicating her win to her coach, Caroline Moore, who sadly passed away a couple of months ago.
“This was for Caroline Moore, she was by my side my whole career and passed away a couple of months ago,
“I’m so pleased I managed to make her proud. It’s the first time I’ve done anything without her. Not only was she my trainer and mentor, but also the best friend.”
Despite a good result for Townend and Canter, the favourite for the event, Tom McEwen was unable to challenge the pair after slipping to 9th in the overall event.
After starting off their season strong, the pair will be one to look out for ahead of the rest of the season.
