Bristol Flyers, top-scorer Marcus Evans will be unavailable ahead of Leicester Riders trip

The Bristol Flyers are back in action tomorrow night at The Morningside Arena to take on the league leaders, the Leicester Riders.

The fixture is one of two Flyers games along with their trip to the London Lions on April 1, that has been selected for live coverage on Sky Sports.

The Flyers go into the game on the back of a close fought 75-72 win against the Sheffield Sharks to bag the three points in overtime.

Although, Andreas Kapoulas will be unable to call upon the services of top-scorer Marcus Evans who has to serve a one-game ban for his disqualification during the Flyers game against Plymouth City Patriots.

Meanwhile, the Riders will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways after recording just their second defeat of the season as they fell 85-83 to the Manchester Giants.

Rob Paternostro’s side are the firm favourites to retain their BBL Championship title as they sit 10 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over second-placed Manchester Giants.

The Flyers sit 7th in the standings and boast the third best defensive record in the league by giving up just 77 points per game, however at the other end of the pitch the Flyers have struggled to gain momentum, scoring the fewest points per game in the BBL.

The South-West side still have a chance to climb the table with five games in hand due to Covid-19 postponements and are only eight points behind the Giants.

The Riders biggest threat will be Minnesota graduate, Mo Walker, who returned from injury for the Riders in their last game against the Surrey Scorchers.

Kapoulas’ side will have to stay defensively strong to keep the 6’10” forward from scoring as he has been Leicester’s vital component to success this season, as he leads the BBL in winning percentage.

The last time the two sides met was just three weeks ago, where the Flyers were unable to hold on in a 78-75 narrow defeat that went to the final buzzer.

This time out, the Flyers will be seeking revenge on the road in the hopes to leapfrog into 5th place.
