Bishop’s Cleeve manager Paul Collicutt admitted that Worcester Raiders were “better” than his side, following their 3-1 defeat to Worcester Raiders in the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup.
“They have a very good reputation, are very strong up-front, and, on the day they were better than us,” revealed Collicutt.
“Having done what we have done through the season, it’s hard to criticize, but we weren’t at the races today.”
Raiders are in the division below Cleeve, currently playing in the Hellenic League Division One but are challenging for promotion to the Hellenic League Premier.
Cleeve went into the game having just lifted the Hellenic League Premier title, after an 11-2 win over Shrivenham.
The loss means that Cleeve have dropped out of the Challenge cup into the Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup where they will face Cheltenham Saracens in the next round.
Bishop’s Cleeves next game is their final league game of the season against Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday, a game of very little stakes but Collicutt is still expecting the best from his side.
“We’re training on Tuesday and there is no way I’ll accept a performance like that against Brimscombe on Saturday.”
