Gloucester City manager Lee Mansell says his side will “Look to go again” when they welcome bottom of the table Guiseley to TigerTurf Stadium on Saturday in the Vanarama National League North.
The Tigers will head into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals AFC Telford last weekend in which Tom Harrison netted the only goal for City.
“The chances we had in the second half were enough to win the game but unfortunately sometimes in football it comes back and bites you on the backside”, explained Mansell after the Telford defeat.
“We didn’t get going in the first half and they had a couple of opportunities which they took one which we as a group were disappointed about. The result was one step back and hopefully we can now go and move two steps forward.”
Only four places divide the two sides coming into the game along with a difference of nine points between them in what is set to be a crucial bottom of the table clash.
City currently have three wins from their last six games so will be aiming to take a third victory when they face the West Yorkshire side.
The last time these two sides faced each other was at the start of this current league campaign back in August.
Unfortunately for City it resulted in a 2-1 loss with Jordan Young netting the only goal for the Tigers that day.
Nevertheless, Lee Mansell’s side will have the crowd fully behind them this time around.
Right-back Daniel Leadbitter is likely to be available once again for City after being named on the bench against Telford.
Lucas Tomlinson who has had an impressive season so far will also be eyeing a spot in the first XI after he began the previous game on the side lines.
First team goalkeeper Jake Cole remains out of action for City due to an ongoing calf injury which paves the way for 19-year-old loanee Harvey Wiles-Richards to make his third start for City since joining the club from Bristol City.
“We have to be very careful with Lead (Daniel Leadbitter) and Jack James both have been out for a considerable period of time but it is great to have them back out on the grass training regularly and being involved in the matchday squads.
“We have to monitor them carefully and we have a squad capable of winning games as you saw in the Fylde game.
“This Saturday is going to be one hell of a task however survival isn’t won or lost on this game but we can create a gap between us and them (Guiseley),” Mansell said.
A victory for the Tigers will see them move to three wins in six and move further away from the drop zone heading into the business end of the season.
Kick off is scheduled for 3pm at TigerTurf Stadium.
