“I think we can go all the way” said Bristol City U-18 captain Calum Hewlett after victory over Stoke City

Bristol City Under 18’s captain, Calum Hewlett believes that his side can win the FA Youth Cup after victory in the third round.

Hewlett scored a penalty in the 32nd minute as the Young Robin’s ran out 3-0 winners over U-18 Premier League side Stoke City.

In the fourth round, Bristol City will take on either Huddersfield Town or Charlton Athletic who both sit below them in the under 18 football pyramid.

Hewlett said “I think we can go all the way, this group of boys are absolutely brilliant.”

Bristol City ran riot against Stoke, dominating possession throughout the game which resulted in goals for Brandon Bak, Raekwan Nelson and of course Hewlett.

Skipper Hewlett said “I think I would put the win down to work rate because without the work rate and the effort you aren’t going to get anywhere, all the lads went for everything and battled really hard especially against the big lads in the Stoke team.

“Jed Meerholz embodied that tonight, he was brilliant in everything that he did on the ball both going forwards and backwards.”

The Bristol City holding midfielder has now scored three penalties this season in all competitions.

He said “I am delighted to score, I like to stick to the same spot really.

“I had to concentrate on hitting it right into the bottom left corner, it was a nice to get a goal but as captain it was great to get the win.”
