Gloucestershire hospitals are among the worst in the country for cancer care.
Their most recent CQC (Care Quality Commissions) report rates said that they: ‘require improvement’.
National cancer care targets expect patients to be treated within 62 days of an urgent referral.
The average Gloucestershire Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust achieved was only 71.6% within 62 days. When they were aiming for 85% of patients to be seen in this time frame. This is some of the lowest in the country.

Targets were last hit in September 2014.
But for A&E services our hospitals exceeded targets. 95.3 % of patients were treated or admitted within 4 hours. The national target for A&E’s is 95% of patients being seen in this time frame. The rest of England saw patients in 4 hours on average 88.9% of the time.
The CQC also acknowledge the amount of care hospital staff had for their patients, saying: ‘Every service was found to be caring. The inspection team found that staff across the organisation were highly committed to doing their best for patients. Staff were observed to be providing kind and compassionate care with dignity and respect. Caring in critical care was outstanding.’
