Forest Green Rovers looking to relieve pressure with win at Scunthorpe

Forest Green Rovers will be facing off against bottom of the league Scunthorpe at the Full Charged New Lawn on Saturday as they look to relieve some pressure off themselves at the top of the table.

Rovers’ were a huge 16 points ahead at the top of League Two, but now find themselves just four points ahead of Exeter, although they do have a game in hand.

Rob Edwards’ men have one just once in their last five outings in League Two, that being last time out against Colchester, with a change in tactics being required for the victory, moving Ebou Adams slightly higher up the pitch.

“In that particular game, we did go that way in the first-half, but in the second, we brought Ebou deeper again because they had one or two counter attacks – which was their main threat,” said Edwards in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s definitely an option for us. I was pleased with how it went. It was only a slight tweak, but an effective one.”

Scunthorpe are currently 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table, so the Rovers’ will be keen not to fall to a defeat.

“We had a good meeting with the players at the beginning of the week, now that we are in the final stages of the competition,”

“A lot of it is about consistency and what we’ve been doing all season long. We want to enjoy this moment and we want to live in the present.”

A win is vital for the Forest Green if they are to secure the title.

After last years melt down, they will be keen to avoid the playoffs where possible, however unlikely it is that they will end up in that spot.

Winning will be seen as the only option by Edwards as he looks to add a League Two title to the clubs trophy cabinet.
