Thomas Tuchel has named his, larger than normal, 35-man squad for England’s upcoming friendlies with Uruguay and Japan. Ex-Bristol Rovers loanees, Jarell Quansah and Elliot Anderson have been named in the German’s squad.
Anderson has made the last three squads under Tuchel, having made six caps for the Three Lions. The Nottingham Forest midfielder and ex-Rovers loanee has had an impressive season in the Premier League, with links to Manchester City amplifying his impressive form.
Anderson contributed to 13 goal involvements in his season-long-loan at Bristol Rovers in the 21/22 season. The Gas were automatically promoted from League Two during his loan spell in dramatic fashion, finishing third, behind Forest Green Rovers and Exeter City.
The Warrington-born Quansah, only has one England cap so far, and has made two England squads under Tuchel (March and September). He has enjoyed a successful season with German outfit, Bayer Leverkusen, scoring four goals so far for the side. His side currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga, and have been knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal. The Englishman will be looking to add to his one cap over the next two international games.
Quansah spent six months on loan at Rovers in the 22/23 season, playing 16 games and helping them avoid relegation to League Two.
Here we go. It’s your #ThreeLions squad for March camp! 👀

Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes his return to the England set-up, for the first time since Euro 2020 after his impressive form for Leeds United in the Premier League this season. The striker has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances so far for the Yorkshire side.
James Garner has made his first senior England squad for the German manager. He has played for England’s under 17s, 21s and most recently their under 23s, but this is his first senior appearance. He has enjoyed a successful season with Everton, with 7 goals and assists so far this season, and has played a pivotal role in Everton’s current league position of eighth.
Jude Bellingham has returned from injury in time to be called up to the squad. It remains to be seen if he will feature, having not played for Real Madrid since February 1st.
The only notable omission is Kyle Walker, who announced his international retirement earlier this month. He earned 96 caps for England, scoring one goal.
England will play Uruguay on Friday 27th of March at Wembley, which will also be the venue for the game against Japan on March 31st.
