Cheltenham Town retain list as the Robins move up to Sky Bet League One: Matty Blair extends contract while Chris Clements is released.

Cheltenham Town have announced their retain and release list after their promotion to Sky Bet League One. Wing-Back Matty Blair has agreed terms for a contract extension of two years while goalkeepers Scott Flinders, Max Harris and defender Sean Long have all been offered new contracts.

The Robins have let go of five players, defender Dan Bowry, midfield duo Chris Clements and Tom Chamberlain with attackers Alex Addai and Tahvon Campbell also being released.

Michael Duff had his say on the players who were released and retained “It’s always difficult. You’re emotionally invested, as are the players, and after such a big high to then have the horrible conversations of we will or we won’t be offering contracts is difficult.

“It’s probably the hardest part of the job. It doesn’t change from when I first retired. I found it as an under-18s manager and nothing changes now.

“We thank all of the players who are leaving us and will always remember the roles they played in helping us to achieve promotion and to make history. We wish them all the best for the future.”

All of Cheltenham’s five loanees have also returned to their parent clubs, Josh Griffiths, Finn Azaz, Callum Wright, Sam Smith and Indiana Vassilev all departing from the Robins with talk of Duff and Cheltenham wanting Griffiths back after their promotion to League One.
