Forest Green Rovers’ Yan Klukowski ahead of FA Cup fixture at Luton Town

Forest Green Rovers head to Kenilworth Road in the FA Cup first round on Saturday to take on Luton Town, for the second consecutive season.

Ahead of the trip to Bedfordshire, one of the three men in charge, Yan Klukowski spoke to local press this morning.

“We know Luton pose a significant challenge to us on Saturday, I think they are one defeat in nine games with seven victories.”

The Hatters were in League One action on Tuesday night, drawing 1-1 away at league leaders Huddersfield Town.

“It’s the greatest domestic cup competition in the world; the FA Cup naturally brings that excitement.”

“You’re potentillay two victories away from the third round and one of the real big boys.”

“We’re under no illusions how difficult this game will be on Saturday; Luton Town are a huge football club themselves.”

“It’s going to be a great game for our players, a real opportunity to test themselves against higher-level opposition.”

Jack Wilshere has been in charge at Kenilworth Road for just over a year now, and the FGR first team coach is full of praise for his oppsite number.

“I think he’s proved he’s one of the young coaches with high potential in the game.”

“He’s going to have a bright future, the way his teams play, the results his team have picked up kind of highlight that.”

Klukowski has stated he doesnt see Saturday as a time to experiment and wants to go to Bedfordshire with a strong team

“I dont think it’s a game we want to experiment, we want to go as strong as possible.”

“We’re slowly building some momentum with how we’re playing i think there’s slow improvements every game.”

“We will be going as strong as possible.”

Rovers are unbeaten in four games now, following a difficult period in September and early October and will be hoping to carry this form on against League One opposition.

“We don’t want to lose any game, whether it’s Luton Town, Arsenal, Harrogate or Altrincham. We play to win every game. We understand things happen within games, which means you can’t, but with this squad we play to win.”

Forest Green’s clash at Luton kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.
