Former player under Steve Cotterill, Hayden Mullins greets his old manager this Saturday for the first time since taking over Newport.
After joining the Exiles this summer, the former Portsmouth player hopes to pick up three points on his visit to Whaddon Road this weekend at 12:30pm.
‘’Yeah, he’s a great guy, I really like Hayden and I’m really looking forward to seeing him this weekend.
‘’I haven’t seen him for a long time, he did play for me and he played well most weeks. He was a model of consistency and a great professional which is why I really liked him.
‘’I only ever saw him as a central midfield player, but that’s not to say he couldn’t ever go and be one [a manager].
‘’He was always very responsible and he understands the game, and I’m sure he’s taking that into his coaching and managerial career.
‘’We had some tough times together in Pompey, but I never forget the people I was with during those tough times as they’re very important within your life.
The Cheltenham manager further praised his soon to be visitors, acknowledging, ‘’It’s going to be a right tough game, but one we’re looking forward too.
‘’We know if we play well, we can give most teams in the league a game.’’
‘’Our crowd are really really important; Newport will have a good following so it will be a challenge both on and off the pitch.
