“It’s a tough one to take today especially with it being our first competitive loss since December last year. As a group we’re not used to losing but it was a really good test for us.
Especially playing with a depleted squad we’ve not played a team of that level across the pitch. They had quality in fullbacks, midfielders and up front.’’
The 20-year-old further explained it’s ‘’not ideal’’ but emphasised ‘’we have to move onto the next week.’’
After winning the treble last season with the league, cup and varsity, the UOG Men’s football won’t be used to losing, however there were some positives from their 4-1 defeat yesterday.

‘’Again like last week our subs came on and did really well. We looked like scoring a few in the second half but didn’t quite create the chances we needed to score the goals.
‘’Overall it’s not a horrendous performance, all the lads from defenders up to the strikers worked really hard.
‘’We had around 12 players out this week, with people fitting into positions that they weren’t normally at, so overall it was never going to be easy for us, but the lads worked really hard so that’s a big positive to walk away with.
‘’Training on Monday is really important; we need to regroup and work with our different personnel. We could possibly look at changing shape next week and definitely need to work on keeping the ball more.’’
The second year midfielder was full of compliments for his squad regardless of the result, displaying his leadership and experience within the sport.
‘’A lot of the boys are still new to playing with each other so we’re working on getting them to come out of their shell and increase their confidence both with and without the ball.
‘’We need to keep building the connections between us, but I think we’ve got a really good chance next week.’’
