Swindon Town U18’s manager Kirk Mcginn says “his team have seen a positivity this week that we hope will lead into Saturday’s game” ahead of the upcoming clash against Wycombe Wanderers.
The town come into this fixture of the back of a positive 3-3 draw at Milton Keynes in the youth alliance league last weekend, whereas Wycombe had a weekend of last time out, however are on the back off a four game winning streak including a 2-0 win at Swindon in August.
In what was a tight encounter at the back end of August, the reds created multiple chances, but it was Wycombe who were clinical in the final third with two first half goals providing crucial in giving the away side all three points.
When asked about the threat that Wycombe may bring on the weekend academy manager Kirk Mcginn has said “They are well prepared and effective at playing in wide. We will need to be ready for their speed and power in these areas.”
Wycombe have had a strong start to the season with five wins and two defeats in their opening seven games which has put them fifth in the table, as a team they hope to keep feeding the first team with talent as they have been successful in doing so in the past couple of seasons.

Swindon, on the other hand, have had a challenging start to the season. They sit 20th in the table having yet to win so far this season and having only picked up two points.
McGinn’s side were extremely close to picking up their first win of the season at Milton Keynes last week where a last minute equaliser from the home side denied them.

In response to how his side were feeling off the back of the last minute disappointment, Kirk said ‘The players are in good spirits they have trained well this week, worked hard on defending and counter attack.
The manager emphasised that he wanted to see his team “press as they have planned this week, defend the middle and recover to goal as well as we did last week”.
Swindon will hope that the cup will bring them success this season in what has been a difficult start.
Teddy Moulder is a player that will look to continue his strong run of recent form which saw him get on the scoresheet last weekend, as well as leading strongly from the back. He joined the rest of the squad in training with the first team on Thursday.
“Today we trained alongside the 1st team supporting their preparations ahead of Saturday. We will then do game prep ourselves tomorrow with game plan and details discussed in team meeting and reflection piece.”
Catch the team in action on Saturday morning at Beaverbrooks as they look to advance to the next round of the cup.
