From Netflix to playing at Wembley – an eventful fortnight for former Cheltenham Town defender Craig Braham-Barrett

When Cheltenham Town signed Craig Braham-Barrett on loan in 2013, manager Mark Yates claimed that he would “excite players” with his direct and quick style. 12 years later however, he has not played in professional football for almost 10 years and has recently played at Wembley alongside appearing on Netflix’s new reality show – Cheat: Unfinished Business.

The full-back has an impressive journeyman CV since leaving Gloucestershire and has appeared for over 10 clubs in 12 years throughout the non-league structure in England. He has never played in the fifth division but instead joined the National League South, where he has primarily played over the course of his career. The clubs range from Welling, Dartford, Braintree and Ebbsfleet United.

Now appearing for AFC Whyteleafe in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South, he ticked off a childhood dream, which was playing at the home of football, Wembley Stadium. His side lost in extra time to Whitstable Town in the FA Vase final, courtesy of a goal from former Gillingham striker Ronald Sithole.

Almost a fortnight before this, it was revealed that he would feature on a new show that will be available for streaming on Netflix. Hosted by Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden, Cheat will feature eight ex-couples who have cheated or have been cheated on. The show premiered just under two weeks ago in late May.

The footballer is with his ex, Jazz, on the show after it was revealed that “one of them were living a double life”. The TV show did well and proved to be a hit in numerous countries and has already been renewed for a second season.

Alongside the achievement of reaching the final of the FA Vase, Whyteleafe will also fight for promotion but the play-offs have been delayed due to the incident with Jersey Bulls, who have been docked three points for fielding an ineligible players.
