Grudge matches and Maple vs Element looms in UoG World Championship knockouts

Friday’s UoG Darts World Championship group stage produced some interesting ties for round two and some possible quarter-final matchups tonight.

On one half of the draw sees Felix ‘Frostbite’ Anderson face up against Tom Purnell in a game that has previously been won by Anderson.

Anderson is a strong favourite at 1.18, as Purnell sees himself at odds of 4.67 just for this tie.

The winner of that tie will face Keelan Hills, who is looking strong to win the tournament (5.00) after a win versus tournament favourite Alfie Element, who is the favourite despite having to play an extra knockout game.

The other game on that half features Element who sees odds of 1.25 to win versus Jack Mason, and odds of 1.50 to win the tournament itself from Big Bucks Bookies.

Things only get harder from there, though, as he’ll have to face Premier League runner-up Billy Maple in a quarter-final which could have been the final.

The first game in the bottom half of the draw is a slight grudge match in Oscar Hegarty versus Jack Beard.

‘Heg-dog’ is the favourite, but not by much. Beard sees odds of 2.60 whilst Hegarty is priced at 1.67.

The winner of the tie faces a tough opponent in the quarter-finals as they play the number two seed, Jack Payne.

The final game of round two sees Alfie Ryan and Matt Sutcliffe face off in what could be the closest of them all. Big Bucks have given Ryan a slight edge at 1.82 and Sutcliffe 2.22. The winner of this faces Patrick Loveard in the quarter-final.

There could be some blockbuster match-ups in the latter stages, with quarters of Element vs Maple and Hills vs Anderson both looking possible.

If you are going to be having a bet on tonight’s fixtures, please remember to gamble responsibly.
