Charlie St Quinton thinks Fergal O’Brien has one of their best chance at this years Cheltenham festival

With the Cheltenham Festival right around the corner, starting on the 12th of March this year, assistant trainer Charlie St Quinton doesn’t think Fergal O’Brien racing have “ever gone into a Cheltenham week where we have had two proper goes.”

St Quinton was quick to defend lead jockey Paddy Brennan making it clear he thinks “he’s a very good jockey, he’s got his critics, but I think he’s brilliant.”

Riding his 1,500 winner back in December last year Brennan has huge experience and “the boys and girls definitely look up to him” according to St Quinton.

Brennan has won at Cheltenham six times previously, winning the Gold Cup once in 2010.

The 42 year old has 29 wins so far this season, looking towards the Cheltenham Festival.

St Quinton readily admits that the team have “probably picked the two hardest races to win”, but is still incredibly hopeful about Fergal O’Brien’s chances at the Cheltenham Festival.

Fergal O’Brien’s best horse going into the festival is Crambo, the horse is highly tipped to do well with St Quinton confirming Crambo would be rode by Connor Brace.

Talking about the Cheltenham mare’s novice’s hurdle St Quinton shared his opinion on the event stating “the mare is the best race of the week” even if it may devise opinion across the board on whether it dilutes the event.

St Quinton argued the mare has “some unbelievable horses, five or six horses go there with a serious chance” including, “the 300 pound store horse Brighterdaysahead” while also holding promise for one of Fegal O’Briens horses Dysart Enos.
