Bishop's Cleeve Football Sports

“If we do that it would be a big ask for a club of our size” Bishop’s Cleeve manager Paul Collicutt speaking about his side pushing into the top five for the end of the season

Bishop’s Cleeve sit in 10th after 26 games sitting on 34 points but only four points off fifth place Yate Town with two games in hand.

Cleeve’s home form has been incredible this year only losing four games out of 16 at home, scoring 39 goals in those game.

Collicutt spoke about their goal-scoring ability, “Especially at home we’ve been scoring quite a few goals”.

Their away form is where they have struggled this season, only winning three games out of 11 with manager Collicutt stating “Our away forms need to improve”.

Bishop’s Cleeve now have three games in a row which could make or break their season, Collicutt spoke on this saying, “on 10 to five on Saturday against Melksham, I will know how good or bad we are.

“We have an ideal chance of showing what we can do away as our away form has been disappointing” Collicutt hopes his team can put their bad away form behind to remain undefeated over the next week.

The Mitres’ goal-scoring has been exceptional this season with Ross Langworthy, Toby Holland, Ethan Dumbar and Jay Malshanskyi all netting double-digit goal tallies.

Collicutt praised the quartet, “I’ve got four players in the starting XI that have scored over 14 goals… don’t think many teams in the league can say that.”

Bishop’s Cleeve won at the weekend against Paulton Rovers winning 6-2 but Collicutt said “The lads were buoyant but were disappointed in conceding two goals” Ed Buchter for Rovers was a part of both goals.

Collicutt didn’t want to focus on the negative as he said, “We scored six but it could quite easily have been more than that”, That was the second time this season that Cleeve scored six goals in a game when they did in earlier on in the season against Melksham Town winning 6-1

The Cleeve manager stated “I actually enjoyed my weekend this weekend” after the win but his weekends always depend on the results that happen on Saturday.

Cleeve have only won three games in 2024 so it hasn’t been the best start to the year for Collicutt.

Bishop’s Cleeve had a 3G pitch installed in 2022 manager Collicutt speaking on this “We’re adapting better to Astro this year than what we did last year”.

There has been an improvement by Collicutt’s players this year on the 3G pitch scoring more home goals already compared to last year with only scoring 35 goals the whole of last season and conceding 39.

“We need to build on trying to finish in the top five” Collicutt also stated this would be a tough ask as “there is teams in far better positions than we are”.

Collicutt is not looking at places in the table until the final few weeks of the season saying “it won’t be until the last two or three weeks, you will actually know where you stand”.

Cleeve face Bashley at the weekend in a must-win away game with the home side sitting in 17th three-place above bottom.
