Kidderminster Harriers will look to make it five league wins in a row under their new manager Phil Brown as they welcome Dorking Wanderers to Aggborough in the Vanarama National League.
Wins over Aldershot, Dagenham and Redbridge, Hartlepool and Oxford City have given Harriers hope of survival since Brown’s appointment, after being seven points from safety when Russ Penn was sacked on January 7.
The only blemish on that record is last week’s FA Trophy Fifth Round exit to National League North side Peterborough Sports, as former Harriers frontman Michael Gash netted the only goal of the game late on in stoppage time.
Harriers currently sit in 22nd, two points off 20th placed Southend United. This is their first league outing in two weeks as their scheduled midweek fixture against Solihull Moors was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Last time out at Aggborough against Oxford City, it was a nightmare start as the away side took a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Josh Parker, however three goals in 21 second half minutes from Amari Morgan Smith, Jack Lambert and Gold Omotayo gave the former Hull City manager Brown his fourth straight win.
Dorking Wanderers, fronted by Marc White, as a player, their chairman, and now their manager, has been involved in the club since their inception in 1999. The club have achieved 11 promotions in that spell to reach their highest point, the 5th tier of English football. They finished 16th in their first National League season last term, and currently sit in 19th place, three points clear of safety.
The Surrey based side beat fellow relegation rivals York City 1-0 on Tuesday night, with Tom Blair’s late goal being the only thing separating the two sides.
The last time these two sides met was in October, when Harriers bested Wanderers 1-0, thanks to a first half goal from Bailey Hobson. That win was one of four acquired in the league before Penn got the sack.
It’s expected to be a bumper crowd at Aggborough as the club have put tickets for children to £1 each, in their ‘Kids for a Quid’ campaign. As of 9am this morning, 180 home tickets remained for the fixture, so there is a estimated attendance of over 3,000 people in Worcestershire this afternoon.
The game kicks off at Aggborough Stadium, at 3pm, in Kidderminster. Who will win in a crucial battle in the relegation fight? Find out on our Park life social accounts for all the updates!
