“After a defeat you need to bounce back”, Cirencester Town manager John Brough hopes to see a reaction after a disappointing 4-3 loss in the week

“There were lots of positives to take”, Cirencester manager John Brough is looking to build on what he saw in his side’s 4-3 defeat to Kidlington on Wednesday.

Despite the disappointing result on Wednesday evening, Brough was optimistic about the performance and didn’t think it fairly reflected his team’s performance.

“They had three chances in the first half and scored three goals, we had a makeshift back four which didn’t help but we will be hoping to go back to a more settled back four.”

The back four was without its leader, Jake Lee but Brough confirmed he should be returning to the fold this weekend, giving the Centurions some stability at the back.

The 50-year-old will be looking for a reaction from his players as they look to bounce back away at fellow promotion-chasing Dunstable on Saturday

“After a defeat you need to bounce back with a positive result, it’s early in the season but they’re always in and around it, we will go with a plan and look to take the three points.”

Brough took hope from the attacking performance on Wednesday and hopes that the forward line can carry their form into a key clash in the promotion race despite the season only being in its infancy.

“It was probably the best attacking performance of our season, we created some great chances and we could have scored three or four more.”

Cirencester’s attacking play will be boosted by Ben Whitehead who will be hoping to push for a spot in the starting eleven at the weekend.

“He’s only played thirty minutes off the bench so far but we’ve been managing his fitness because he hasn’t played a lot of football recently, but I expect he’ll be pushing for a start.”

Meanwhile, Luca Robinson will be sitting out the last game of his three-game ban for the red card he received when Cirencester travelled to Waltham Abbey earlier this season.
