Women’s Super League weekend preview: Chelsea need one more win for title

Chelsea will be looking to win the Women’s Super League for the fourth time this weekend as they host Reading in the final round of fixtures.

Emma Hayes’ team reached the Champions League final last week as they continue their search for an incredible quadruple.

They still have work to do to win the league title, though, as Manchester City sit two points behind after 21 of 22 games.

Both teams have been excellent throughout the season, only losing two games between them.

The Blues are unbeaten in their last eight league games, and another draw may see them become the first team to retain the WSL since 2014.

Man City travel to the Rush Green Stadium to play West Ham, knowing that if Chelsea draw, they must win by at least three goals to make it two Women’s Super League titles.

Although both of the title chasers’ opponents have nothing to play for, it’ll be an emotional day at Kingsmeadow, where Fara Williams plays the final game of her illustrious career.

All six games in the final matchday kick off on Sunday at 14:30 BST, as Manchester United take on Everton in the last game of their 2nd ever WSL campaign.

Elsewhere, it’s a huge day for Aston Villa and Bristol City in the relegation battle, with the South-West club needing to beat 7th-placed Brighton to have a chance of avoiding the drop.

Villa only need a point against Arsenal to guarantee survival.
