Cheltenham Town v Bradford City: A Robins win would be bigger than just three points

Cheltenham Town host Bradford City at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, with kick off starting at 3pm, in what is a massive game for many reasons for Michael Duff’s side.

Despite sitting in 16th, The Bamtams have been on an incredible run of form which has seen them fly from the relegation zone in League Two.

City have only lost once in 10 matches, picking up 19 points along the way, making them a very tough team to face at the moment.

The Robins are in strong form too, with three wins from their last five matches, and their only loss coming from FA Cup opponents Manchester City in the thrilling 3-1 loss in January.

However, as hard as a win would be against Bradford, Duff will be well aware their following fixture is against league leaders Cambridge United, three days after tomorrow’s game.

Cheltenham have recruited well in January, with new signings Sam Smith Callum Wright scoring in their latest game which was a 2-1 victory away to Walsall. Therefore, the home sides manager as plenty of options to work out who to entrust starting roles for the weekend, with an eye on the Cambridge fixture too.

Again, Cheltenham can only focus on one match at a time, and a win against Bradford, plus with results going their way, The Robins could find themselves top of League Two with two games in hand against Tuesday’s opponents.

Two wins from Bradford and Cambridge would put The Robins in a great position as they edge nearer the end of the season. Easier said than done, but Michael Duff’s side have shown they are capable of doing so.

Cheltenham have spent three seasons in League One, 2006-09, and after falling short last season where they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Northampton Town in the semi-final of the League Two play off’s, I’m sure the players will want to avenge last season’s promotion heartbreak.
