Folk musicians from around the country will congregate in Gloucester this weekend for the free Gloucester Folk Trail beginning tomorrow. The music and culture event is set to bring the city alive with local musicians, folk choirs, acoustic bands, and Morris dancers.
Here’s a roundup of the weekend.
Friday 23rd February
The vocal folk choir Shepherd’s Crook will be performing at Café Rene. Along with Folk Rock Performers Reuben Lovett, Harpers Ferry and Bewelian.
Other acts include singer-songwriter Spence Cater at Tank. Shaggy Dog Raconteurs will be at the Dick Whittington along with an acoustic band Lila J.
Saturday 24th February
Morris Dancers will be taking over The Fountain Inn this Saturday as well as hosting a jam session. Complete with performances from Michael Parker, Bally Brogues and Life O’Reilly.
Over at Café Rene Ragtime Jug Orchestra are performing. Alongside Beaver and the Foghorns at the Dick Whittington, and Way Out West at Cross Keys Inn
Sunday 25th February
Last but not least, rounding up the weekend The Shallot are at Café Rene. The Fountain Inn will host acoustic duo Midsummer Grove, Elgar Folk Ensemble and on the harp is Mark Harmer.
