Cheltenham Town’s George Lloyd taking it ‘one step at a time’ in quest for first team spot.

George Lloyd is enjoying a very productive season playing in the reserve and youth team games for Cheltenham Town, but the forward is taking each game in his stride.

With 32 goals to his name already this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see big clubs show an interest in Lloyd – but the youngster isn’t worrying about potential speculation.

Cementing a spot in the first team will be the next logical step for Lloyd, but the 18-year-old believes there is still a lot of work to do to in order to be a regular in the first team.

“I’m just focusing on nailing a place down and I’m not there yet,” said Lloyd.

“I’ve got a lot to work on and I’m just going to keep doing it and when I do that then it will be time to start thinking about it (future targets). But I want to take it one step at a time.”

Although Lloyd prefers playing as a striker, he has started many of Cheltenham’s reserve games out of position on the wing this season.

But as long as the team is excelling, the youngster doesn’t mind doing a job in a different position.

He said: “I prefer playing up top. Wherever they put me I’ve got to do a job and if you’re doing a good job and the team’s winning then you can’t really say anything – but my main position and the one I prefer is being striker.
