UoG Student walks 100 miles in May for Breast Cancer Now

UoG Graphic Design student Amy Barker is walking 100 miles in May to raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Now.

Barker chose to do this challenge following some personal events which affected her dearly.

“I’m doing this for my mum, who was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. She went through seven months of chemotherapy and three months of radiotherapy as well as a surgery.

“She inspired me, which is why I’m doing this. It will be great to raise money for such an incredible charity that helped my mum so much.”

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is the leading cause of cancer-related death among women worldwide.

Breast Cancer Now is a leading breast cancer charity who are dedicated to becoming the place to turn for information, support and everything related to breast cancer. They have invested over £255 million in research to drive progress forward.

Barker has raised over £500 as things stand and has attributed her success to the support she has felt from family, friends and the weather!

“It’s been so nice since the sun has been out; it definitely wouldn’t have been as much fun in the cold and rain.

“I’ve really appreciated the dance girls coming to support, too; it makes it easier when you have some support.”If you’d like to support Barker in her fundraising, please click here.
