Gabby Logan was at Cheltenham literature festival to talk about her new book ‘The First Half’, however two well known household names have not come out of the book too well.

In her book, Logan refers to different occasions when comments were made to or within earshot of her. “This is not a book complaining about misogyny,” Logan said, “but it is important to mark because of the changes that have come”.

When she went on a flight to Istanbul in 2005 covering the Championship League final. She was 7 months pregnant at the time. Richard Keys said he didn’t find pregnant women attractive and that he never slept with his wife when she was pregnant. In earshot of Gabby Logan and other people sitting in business class.

On the night of the book launch in Cheltenham, Logan told the story of how she came to be a Sky presenter and how Richard Keys had in fact headhunted her. Although after she arrived at Sky Sports, the working culture was not good.

“Most of the men I worked with didn’t seem to like it either but it was the ones who shouted the loudest that were throwing these comments out there”. However, Logan discussed an “Underlying toxic masculinity, that was this alpha thing going on” where she worked earlier in her career.

What was considered ‘normal’ back then in the nineties would not and rightfully so be accepted in today’s working world. “Actually while I was at Sky, In the book I did not name people that said various things because it was so normal.”

“How many Premier League players have you got on your bedpost. Another guy started commenting on my bum in a loud voice. Saying it was nice now but it would be dropped by my knees when I was in my thirties”

Logan was confident to report, “That environment has totally changed in my working life, thankfully”. She discussed her love for the Olympics and non stop drive, used to build resilience.

Keys have later taken to Twitter referring to an article published by the Mail on Sunday written by Gabby Logan that said “Ms Logan has made a number of wildly inaccurate allegations in the process of defaming my reputation”.
