Swindon Town U18s manager Sean Wood admitted “it will be a different challenge” as his side returns to Youth Alliance League action against Forest Green Rovers U18s.
Town bounced back from their league defeat against Portsmouth with a 3-1 victory against this week’s opponents in the Youth Alliance Cup last time out.
Miles Obodo and Liam Hutt gave Swindon a two-goal advantage before Forest Green pulled one back moments before half-time. However, the hosts were unable to mount a comeback after the break, and Town’s Owen Foye added a third to round off a great team performance and make it three wins from three matches in the competition.

Sean Wood hopes his side can replicate a similar performance this time around as they prepare to make it back-to-back victories against the same opponent.
“It will be a different challenge in terms of we don’t have that sort of back-to-back opposition at all across the season, so it’ll be interesting,” he said.
“We know a little bit more about the opposition from the week before. Nothing really changes for us in terms of the personnel we work with, how we play with the ball, and then how we go after teams.
“Without the ball, we decide on what we’re going to do across the week and work with the players and decide on how they want to press.
“We don’t have to go after any footage, but we will look at the game, reflect, and look at some areas where maybe we could have been a bit better.
“There were not so many today, but there’s always a few that we can learn from, and we’ll use that fixture to prepare for Saturday and try and get three points in the league.”

On this week’s opposition, Forest Green currently sits ninth in the table and has had a mixed beginning to their league campaign.
They began with an impressive 6-1 win away at Cambridge United before suffering two consecutive defeats to both Sutton United and Leyton Orient.
Although FGR’s fortunes turned, with them obtaining three wins on the bounce against Northampton Town, Walsall, and Milton Keynes Dons. However, most recently in the league, they fell to an unfortunate 3-1 loss to Bromley.
They will undoubtedly hope to return to winning ways at Hartpury University this weekend, with extra motivation after suffering a defeat to Town in the cup.
Both sides have obtained newfound information about each other, so this may prove to be an exciting encounter, but Town should be optimistic after getting the better of Rovers as recently as last week.
