Gloucester rugby head coach George Skivington claims that Scotland star Adam Hastings is “not expected anytime soon”

Following an inury in the autumn internationals whilst playing for Scotland, Adam Hastings suffered another spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury that required surgery, in the 28-13 defeat to Leicester Tigers.

His role was more crucial this campaign, Hastings was due to lead the Cherry and White’s attack alongside Mark Atkinson, unfortunately the English international has spent more time than intended in the medical room too.

Head coach George Skivington gave an updated on the 26-year-old’s situation, “He is alright. He had a serious injury so I am not expecting him back any time soon.

“I think there is a slim possibility he could make the last game or two but it was a significant injury so he is in that elite group of lads who are in that physio room.

“I don’t like walking in that physio room with players like Hasto in there at the moment but they are working hard to get back.”

The Scotsman is seeking a return to feature in the World Cup meanwhile his vacancy is occupied by Argentine full-back Santi Carreras.

“He is hoping to get back to be available for the World Cup, that is the hope, but obviously I would like to see him for a couple of games we just need to see how it pans out.”

If all goes to plan, the fly-half will recover from the shoulder surgery and is available for the home clash against Sale Sharks and the final Gallagher Premiership game on the road to Bristol Bears – potentially some European action too as the club are yet to play La Rochelle in the Heineken Champions Cup.

A return in these fixtures could prove to be a lifeline in what has been a season to forget for Hastings.

“Hasto’s recovery is on track, he has been really on it with his rehab. He is obviously disappointed with how his season has gone because he started playing really well

“He came back and got injured again straight away so he has hardly played any rugby so he is very keen to get back on the field for Gloucester.

“He is hoping to get back to be available for the World Cup, that is the hope, but obviously I would like to see him for a couple of games we just need to see how it pans out.”
