Forest Green Rovers Women look to maintain their title hopes with a win in Bristol against Pucklechurch Sports

Forest Green Rovers Women suffered a setback in their Southwest Regional Premier Division title challenge as they lost 3-2 to Sherborne Town last Sunday.

Erin Williams was on form but her brace was cancelled out by a Chloe Snook hat-trick, including two penalties, giving Sherborne the three points.

Lousie Fensome’s Rovers side need to win as they look to keep the pressure on league leaders Marine Plymouth Academy Ladies, who are 11 points clear having played three more games.

They will be supported by new signing and Scottish youth international Tyra Wilson who has signed on a dual registration from Bristol Rovers.

Pucklechurch also suffered defeat last time out as their run of three league draws in a row came to an end at home to second place Torquay United.

The Bristol side has five draws, the most of any team in the league, and have conceded the least goals outside the top four.

Forest Green will look to capitalise on Pucklechurch being the third lowest scorers in the league as they search for their first clean sheet in nine games.

Fensome’s side has struggled for defensive consistency due to injuries and illness, which hasn’t helped their record at the back.

Sam Morris who was part of Bristol Rovers promotion team last year has been out since October 3rd, however since the return from the winter break they have welcomed back Isabelle Martin from injury.

The leagues top four are all in action on Sunday but a win could still move Rovers up into second place, should Torquay fail to win away to Poole Town Ladies.

Pucklechurch will be hoping they can put their game in hand over Bishops Lydeard Ladies to good affect and increase their current four point gap to Lydeard who hold the final relegation place.
