Despite a 4-0 FA Cup Third Qualifying round defeat away to National League South side Truro, Cirencester Town have no doubt gone on a remarkable journey throughout the competition this season.
Since the first qualifying round, The Centurions have gone on to beat opposition of a higher level in every single game, with the most notable win against an exciting Farnham side after a thrilling replay; with striker Harlie Price netting a 90th minute winner.
Since the result there has been a lot of speculation on them and how far they could potentially go with assistant manager Sam Farr saying: “I’ve never seen anything like it for non-league as big as it has been for Cirencester!” The club were fortunate enough to have the FA Cup trophy displayed at the stadium to which Farr described as “class”.

In the Second Qualifying round, Cirencester drew 2-2 at home to Step Two side Farnham, despite taking the game to a replay, Farr praised his sides performance. “It was probably the best performance from us so far this season.
“I thought that we were arguably better than them in that home game.” The Centurions then had to travel down to Farnham on the Tuesday night, which was a day that will no doubt go down in the club’s history. “It was the best feeling I’ve ever had in football”, Farr exclaimed, before adding “I think the Farnham fans as well as me and Jonah (James Mortimer-Jones, first team manager) were all in complete and utter shock!”
Even though they’d drew another big team in Truro City who’d come down from the National League the season before, Cirencester’s assistant admitted; “It was probably the toughest task we could’ve got.” Despite the immediate acceptance of the draw, Farr realised it would be a brilliant experience stating; “We knew they get big crowds and we knew they had a brand-new stadium, it was also a chance for the lads to make a weekend from it.”
Truro City did run out 4-0 winners, bringing an end to a brilliant campaign, but attentions must quickly turn the FA Vase.
Another long trip is at stake for The Centurions, with them having to make the trip down South once again, but this time to Step Six Bridport. Cirencester have won the first two rounds in the Vase and could potentially make it to the Second Round with a win.
On the fixture, Farr said: “It’s one we want to do well in to be honest. We would really love a run, but facing a lower step side can always be tricky especially without any extra time.”
A win Saturday would give the club a healthy finance boost, with the winner of the tie receiving £850.
