Sutton Coldfield Women’s manager Steve Benyon has revealed that he will hold tough conversations with players after their 6-0 defeat against Northampton.
A hat-trick from Jade Bell alongside goals from Amber Pearson and Lisa Milliken secured an emphatic victory for the hosts.
The Cobblers’ victory puts them top of the Women’s National League Division One whilst the Royals could drop down into 9th place as they are tied with Lincoln City on goal difference.

Whilst Benyon didn’t go into detail into what particular exchanges could be held, he appeared to feel let down from his team’s output on the pitch.
He said: “There’s no excuses for a manager.
“We will have to dust ourselves off and there will be some hard conversations had with players.”
The young manager believed his side’s performance in defeat was disappointing as the hosts didn’t have to progress to second gear to collect all three points.
“It’s very disappointing that we didn’t turn up against Northampton.
“It’s a lesson to be learnt and there is a lot of disappointed girls in that changing room.
“They didn’t have to work for the basics and those basics from us weren’t done well.”
Sutton Coldfield will travel to mid-table Barnsley on Sunday in hope of bouncing back from their midweek drubbing.

The former Walsall coach claimed that his team will do what they can to put themselves in a strong league position and will keep a positive mindset.
Benyon confirmed: “We’ll set ourselves up and prepare right to try and do everything possible to win against Barnsley.
“We’ll have to go again, we’re a side that is always evolving.
“We just didn’t properly control moments of the game, compared to what we normally do.”
With just five games left of the league season, survival seems to be almost confirmed with a comfortable 14 points separating them and Solihull Moors.
