University of Gloucestershire’s darts society are hosting a 24 hour charity fundraiser for Macmillan cancer.
After three years of running the committee and talking about creating a fundraiser, Patrick wanted to do something big to show his appreciation.
“We’ve spoken about doing a fundraiser for a few years in a row now, but since it’s sort of mine and the committee’s last year here, we thought we might as well go big to see what we can raise.”

Patrick and the team set financial targets to see what they could achieve and so far its going better than expected as they have already raised £541 before the event has started.
“Yeah £541, we were not expecting that much but I’m glad we have, we started at a £180 target, then went to a £301 target, then up to £501 and now going for a £701 target, if we get it we’ll have to wait and see, I hope so, but so far it’s been great.”
Patrick is thankful for all the support with the donations that have been made so far.
“It’s overwhelming how much support we’ve got, I’m quite surprised in a nice way, it’s nice reading all the messages about the support and good luck for the 24 hours, but yeah it’s been unbelievable.”
With the fundraiser being quite a difficult challenge there’s no obvious answer of how many members of the team will complete the whole 24 hours.
“It’s tough to say people are going to come and go, I’m going to try and be there for 24 hours, I think a few other people are going to try as well, but we should have at least five at a time there overall, we’ve got about 20 odd consistent members and I hope everyone turns up at some point.”
