How Cheltenham-Based Trainer Fergal O’Brien Has Taken The Season By Storm

Cheltenham-based trainer, Fergal O’Brien, began the season by moving premises – but that has not stopped him hitting top form!

Having shared facilities with Nigel Twiston-Davies, the O’Brien team felt they had outgrown Upper Grange Hill Farm, and have moved their training operation ten miles to Ravenswell Farm.

The new yard that boasts 550-acres, is across the field from Kim Bailey’s and is owned by former Southampton Football Club chairman, Rupert Lowe.

At the beginning of the season, the team were operating out of both yards, continuing to race despite the large-scale logistical operation.

However, this has not had an impact on the horses, who seem to have settled nicely into their new home.

O’Brien saddled 49 winners last season, but has already chalked up 42 so far this season, operating at a 24% strike-rate.
